Thanks. In all transparency - I retired from the military in December in 2018 after 32 years. My last assignment was NORTHCOM. I worked all manner of "end the US - end the world" tabletops and real-world stuff - some of which never made the news. I know what NORTHCON CONPLAN 3551 says - I gave inputs on it to FEMA and also used it when we worked H1N1.

So - I know a lot of how the federal government works - regardless of what letter is by the president's name - when a disaster declaration/national emergency has been declared - and what the states/local authorities do...and what they really have no choice to do.

Most Freepers just (frankly) talk without understanding the process when they accuse the (mostly liberal) governors of being tyrants. Well - they are following Phase 2c recommendations - and if you understand the process - these are "RECOMMENDATIONS!!!" - if you want federal money - if you don't - do your own thing - but you are on your own and don't ask for money.

Think of these recommendations during times like these like this: Seatbelt of drinking laws: No - you do not HAVE to raise the drinking age to 21 - 10th amendment and all - but if you do not - no federal highway funds for you.

Phase 2c is no different.

So - you are California - Washington - NY. What do you do when you are contacted by FEMA and the team? Tell them to pound sand and get cheered by Freepers? LOL - no. That's not how it works - that's not how sausage is made.

They said he was overreacting to start with, then when it became real, he didn’t act fast enough - when he is successful at beating this thing back - you are probably correct - they will turn 180 degrees yet again.

Right - just look at some of the other comments. They actually believe that if these social distancing guidelines were not in place, the rate of infection would be exactly the same. The rate of infection is showing signs of declining as a result of the social distancing, and they are now arguing that it is a sign that the virus wasn’t as bad as stating. Mind boggling willful ignorance.

And they’ve got about a quarter of what we have for ICU beds per capita...

Severe cognitive dissonance to blame everyone but the president and his team who put the measures into place - and praised everyone who followed those instructions.

Again - U. S. Government COVID - 19 Response Plan - Phase 2.C. The states were given a choice - follow that plan - and get money - or ignore it and be on their own. That's how it works.

So they followed the team's instructions - and the right called them all sorts of names - even though they should have reserved those names for the people who actually strong-armed them to take those measures in the first place - the Trump team.
