The UK should now be able to cope with the spread of the covid-19 virus, according to one of the epidemiologists advising the government.
Neil Ferguson at Imperial College London gave evidence today to the UK’s parliamentary select committee on science and technology as part of an inquiry into the nation’s response to the coronavirus outbreak.
He said that expected increases in National Health Service capacity and ongoing restrictions to people’s movements make him “reasonably confident” the health service can cope when the predicted peak of the epidemic arrives in two or three weeks. UK deaths from the disease are now unlikely to exceed 20,000, he said, and could be much lower.

Models are constantly revised as new data becomes available. That doesn’t mean there was anything wrong with the earlier model - it was consistent with data then available. Models are models, scaling probabilities. They aren’t prophecies (although media distortion often makes them appear such.)
As someone who has developed models with some regularity, I can say that they can also easily be manipulated to get the desired result.
Can’t know if that happened here, but it is certainly possible.
Of course there were problems with the earlier models in exactly the same way that there are massive problems with current climate models. These models are used for propaganda..period! Very soon every other idiot promoting the doomsday scenario will be forced to face reality, even though the media will not call them out.
The media and their reliable “experts” have consistency proclaimed that this virus is both very deadly ~3-4% mortality rate and much more transmissible than the flu. If true how in the hell have only 0.007% of the population contracted it and only 0.0003% died from it? It’s a fantasy.
If you care to look into Neil Ferguson’s background and track record, I think you will find the probability of deliberate manipulation remote.
