I disagree.
A political party is a vehicle. Its effectiveness is determined by its members and leadership.
It is like saying we need to get rid of the Cleveland Browns because they never win a Super Bowl. The real problem is not the team, but the leadership and members.
The Browns and GOP are only crap because they have entrenched people running them who indoctrinate the newest members and leaders to do the same thing.
The GOP needs fresh blood from top to bottom and the only way to do that is via term limits.
I envy your optimism but its not that easy. Its not just a matter of injecting new blood as the national party is controlled by external interests who effectively own the party. If you think they are going to allow THEIR party to be taken over by anyone who doesn’t “go along with the program” you are sadly mistaken.
Trust me on this, people close to me have worked inside the GOP. While the party may appear to be on the verge of changing from time to time that’s just a temporary adaptation to passing circumstances.
The party is what it is and its never going to change. Reagan couldn’t do it and neither will Trump.
