The problem is that "Lock em up." is not really a punishment for most of these people -- they are homeless wandering drifters and it costs the rest of us $50-$100k to keep them locked up for a year.

I think we need to institute judicial caning as a punishment. Painful as hell, it flays the skin from their buttocks, and they have permanent scars.

They get caned, go to a medical ward for a few weeks (no pain relievers) and go back on the street.

It doesn't cost anywhere near what a year of incarceration does, and they are much more likely to remember and learn.

We used to have plenty of asylums around, but Liberals preferred that they be out on the streets, and voting Democrat.
