A nationwide shortage of two drugs touted as possible treatments for the coronavirus is being driven in part by doctors inappropriately prescribing the medicines for family, friends and themselves, according to pharmacists and state regulators.
“It’s disgraceful, is what it is,” said Garth Reynolds, executive director of the Illinois Pharmacists Association, which started getting calls and emails Saturday from members saying they were receiving questionable prescriptions. “And completely selfish.”
Reynolds said the Illinois Pharmacists Association has started reaching out to pharmacists and medical groups throughout the state to urge doctors, nurses and physician assistants not to write prescriptions for themselves and those close to them.
“We even had a couple of examples of prescribers trying to say that the individual they were calling in for had rheumatoid arthritis,” he said, explaining that pharmacists suspected that wasn’t true. “I mean, that’s fraud.”

Imagine how different things would be if Xi had asked Trump for any help the US could give when he first learned how serious this was.

Doctors don't hoard medicines, they give out samples provided by the pharmaceutical companies and write prescriptions which you take to your local pharmacy.
The article also cites one pharmacist who claimed he only had 800 pills in stock and got a prescription request from a doctor for 200 but refused it. Well of course he did, there is a 30 or 90 day limit on prescribed drugs and every doctor knows that..as does the pharmacist.
You don't prescribe drugs by numbers, you prescribe them in accordance to the govt guidelines in terms of a month or three months...........Again, this whole article is bullcrap!

The Washington and Hollywood elites are probably stockpiling hydroxychloroquine for themselves and their entire extended families.

I think it’s foreign born doctors prescribing the drugs for their extended families and friends. Remember, they bring over their elderly parents with them.

Need healthy doctors to take care of the sick - I have no problem with them taking care of themselves and immediate families ... as long as that’s as far as it goes while supplies are short.
And yet a lot of them perform abortions. Is there greater harm than that?
