Boom: Trump Sets Target Date For Re-Opening America

Early Tuesday morning, President Trump continued to signal that it is his intention to re-open the U.S. economy and get Americans back to work sooner rather than later. Repeating yesterday’s theme that the government can’t afford to implement a draconian “cure” that is worse than the China Virus, the President issued the following tweet:

Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump Our people want to return to work. They will practice Social Distancing and all else, and Seniors will be watched over protectively & lovingly. We can do two things together. THE CURE CANNOT BE WORSE (by far) THAN THE PROBLEM! Congress MUST ACT NOW. We will come back strong!

For an investment community hungering to see a bottom reached in the stock market indexes, this is a crucial moment in time. There is no way the markets can find their bottom when they have no certainty – or even any real idea – about when business might resume and start getting the economy fully back on-line.

Markets were already soaring today on the prospect of the Democrats caving in and allowing the Senate stimulus measure to move through the process. The President’s move to set a firm target date for beginning to get the economy moving again will only serve to support that positive sentiment among investors longing for some good news.

As usual, President Trump’s sense of timing yesterday and today was impeccable. Be glad he’s your President.

I'm immune system compromised due to a medication I have to take.

With that said I'm going to repeat what I've posted elsewhere:

People like me need to take the precautions necessary to protect ourselves. If that means working from home for longer, then so be it. If that means getting my groceries delivered by a family member, so be it. If that means I'm having to video-conference with my loved ones via skype, zoom or something else - so be it.

The rest of you need to get your butts back to work, providing for your families, getting our economy working again and developing the herd immunity that's going to be needed going forward! This shutting down the economy and causing all this pain for so many people is pure insanity.
