Over half of people under 50 experience no symptoms from this virus. Another 30% have symptoms mild enough that they can be ignored. The vast majority of kids are not at any substantial risk... a more typical flu is more statistically dangerous to them. At a young playing in dirt, harassing stray animals and insects, picking their nose, and eating their boogars helps strengthen their immune system.

One in five cases end up in the ICU. Yes, 75% of those will eventually recover, but in the meantime they’ve taken up massive amounts of O2 and possibly occupied ventilators, thus overtaxing our hospitals. I spoke with my sister early this morning on her way to the hospital (she is a physician at a western hospital I am not going to name)...she has a 31-year old male patient in ICU right now with ARDS who has tested positive for COVID-19. There are too many people on this board who are repeating, falsely, that this disease doesn’t affect those under 50—it manifestly does.
