Yes.
Here in Maryland, they’re closed til March 30 but they’re inching their way to full closure.

What happens to high school seniors who aren’t going to finish their senior year? Will they be deemed to have graduated?
To: workerbee
Our local schools closed voluntarily last week (it seems much longer) with the idea they may restart in April, but I’ve been told that they’re likely out for the rest of the year. Parents were upset that our school stayed open as long as it did. Of course that may well change as the days drag on. FWIW there have been no cases reported in the county, maybe one in the county to the north.

My oldest is a senior who has already met all requirements & then some. I don’t know what they’ll do for those who haven’t. Most likely? Pass ‘em along.

What is the benefit, right now, of closing schools for 2-1/2 more months?

Good heavens, why??? I understand the schools closing down — kids would run around and spread it like wildfire — but the businesses as well? Virginia has many counties, and I doubt that even half of those counties have a single confirmed case yet.

Mizzou’s another big state. I’ll bet the COVID is mostly concentrated in the Kansas City and St. Louis metros, and maybe in Columbia as well.

They are going to online (in VA at least) to complete the senior year. The graduation is also canceled however they will do “something” for the seniors TBD from the note from the county a few minutes ago.

Gov black face is an idiot.
To: workerbee
Yeah and Gov. Blackface goes on to complain about "lack of guidance" from the president and "misinformation and mixed messages".
He further says that "As I have said we are essential fighting a biological war now and I expect our president" to "except that" give "support and guidance". We have not be given that "guidance".

This order is poorly considered, and the schools are scrambling now to figure it out.
I work as academic coach with number of Virginia students, including juniors and seniors. They are confused, angry, hurt, and scared. My advice is to stay the course, keep up your learning, enroll for college credit online, keep to your AP and SAT prep and we'll figure it out later.
Our public schools are singularly incapable of handling this situation. EVERY SINGLE private school of students I work with have moved into online learning and are continuing Third Quarter as usual.

This state (Virginia) follows California and New York with their nose shoved so far up their bum it isn’t funny. This governor would have closed everything if we didn’t have a case in the state just to keep Bloomberg happy. The owns the state. I would say he bought and paid for it, lock, stock and barrel except that refers to a firearm.

VA is officially full-retard, though my teacher wife is thrilled to be off for the rest of the year.
