U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams said if you think things are bad now, just wait:
He appeared on NBC's "Today" show:
I didn't expect that I'd be on the "Today" show for such a somber occasion. I want America to understand, this week it's going to get bad, and we really need to come together as a nation.
I heard the story that you were just playing, young people out on beaches. We see here in D.C. that the District set up a cam for people to watch the cherry blossoms. You look on the cam, you see more people walking around than you see cherry blossoms. And this is how the spread is occurring.
And so we really, really need everyone to stay at home.
Dr. Adams said many people are doing the right things. But I think that unfortunately, were finding out a lot of people think this can't happen to them.
"When you look at what's going on in New York, and we said this at the beginning of our "15 Days to Stop the Spread" initiative, that the numbers you see reflect what happened two weeks ago.
"We don't want Dallas or New Orleans or Chicago to turn into the next New York. And it means everyone needs to be taking the right steps right now, and that means stay at home," Dr. Adams repeate
If they were honest, they would have called it the "15 MONTHS to Stop the Spread" initiative.
Let me be diplomatic and say our Surgeon General has not been impressive. . . .
“We’re all going to die”
Exactly, this azzhole has no clue of how “bad it is going to be” this week...none. His rhetoric served NO purpose....none at all save to again increase panic in those poor people who actually believe what these clowns have to say.
I’m worried being in the asthma group but at the same time still realizing that 410 cases in my province of 4 million souls is not a hair on fire disaster. The media wants us with our hair on fire, because you know they will always have a job.
I like Jerome but he’s not polished, his choice of words are poor and he’s not very media savvy.
Instead of ‘bad’ use word ‘challenge’ etc. that he can spin to the positive.
I could snark and say, “But...but....Trump said he’d only hire the best”.
But sadly, this is probably the best he could do.
NYC has 11,000 cases and 99 deaths. That’s a death rate of 9 per thousand. People are looking at raw numbers and scaring themselves.
They are trying to scare Millenials out of doing stooooopid stuff.
Good luck with that.
Yeah, and those 99 may have had secondary infections or have been in very brittle health. The way these stats work- if you tested positive for Kung Flu, and at some point afterwards died... Well, you died of Corona then. It doesn’t matter you had pneumonia, COPD and cancer.
It’ll be another 15 days, and then another, then another.
It’s easier to get people to comply in increments and shorter periods at a time instead of saying 18 months right at the start which is what they mean.
Yup, if you’re immune compromised that’s the bulk of those deaths. If you’re not the odds are way in you favor.
I’ve said it here before and will keep saying it.
In general, doctors SUCK at public messaging.
I Agree. He’s young. And apparently not well-trained in addressing the citizens at large.
But he doesn’t come across as incompetent. So he’s got that goin for him. Which is nice.
Like smoking deaths.
They will find the hydroxycloroquin is going to work. Things will start returning to normal when that comes about.
If it’s going to get bad, you’d think it could hurry up and do it. We’ve been hearing this from the doomsayers for the past two months.
