WV Gov Jim Justice Gives Rambling Speech On Coronavirus (It’s Like a Scary Movie)

West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice has a message about the coronavirus pandemic: It’s like a scary movie.

In an apparent attempt to sooth a nervous public, Justice, in a statewide address Saturday night, offered a rambling response to the virus in which he declined to order a broad lockdown, issued dire warnings about New York state, urged people to follow existing protocols and admitted that perhaps his speech could have waited until Monday.

“It’s like we’re all lost in a movie that we can’t relate to in any way,” he said during the roughly 25-minute address that left many on social media scratching their heads.

Yep, so far so good on civilization remaining civilized. I’ve got to go to the store in the morning, I’m pretty damn nervous about it.

Welcome to The Future, where everyone gets to play the Pathogen Lottery every time they do anything at all. Hope I don’t win!

I don’t remember seeing anything like this in Back To The Future at all. This is total BS.

I don’t remember seeing anything “like this” during the Swine Flu pandemic.

Because Obama...

*Footnote:

If I want an extra wide swath of safety, I’ll slap Seven’s vest on her and take her shopping with me.

She hates everyone and is not ashamed to express it.

OMG if I was to bring Max into the store...

Some dogs you can bring in the store, and some dogs you can’t bring in the store. Max is in Group B.

I may be on the wrong side of the river now, but my heart is over there with my ancestors, always.

Well, look at it this way:  you have kindred spirits on both sides of the river.

Oddly, the PA line is a mile north of me, too.

That’s why this area was infamous for ‘shiners.

Hard to catch them when they keep jumping over state lines one after another.

Shiners may soon need to dust off their hardware, if they’ve not already done so.

This fustercluck is shaping up to be perfect for the demand side of that particular industry.

Thanks for the idea-since I’ve heard that a few people from the city 50 miles away have been going to our only grocery store in this county and overbuying/hoarding stuff from us unworthy rednecks-it is a small grocery store in the only “town” 16 miles away (it has less than 900 people), since that is where I get my food, next trip, I’m going to borrow my neighbor’s dog-a female brindle Bullmastiff-friendly to known humans, but looks ferocious-she is both his pet/companion and his service dog (he is an amputee)-he will put her vest on her and be happy for me to take her on an outing-the dog is not one a stranger would want to be within 10 feet of-I will be avoided...

Stop the lock down, reopen the bars and restaurants, open the schools and let the China flu run its course like it did back in 2009 and 2017.............

People will get sick, people will be hospitalized and some will die........It always happens during flu season.

Sometimes the cure (destruction of our economy, loss of jobs, loss of businesses and stock market crash) is worse than the disease..........

Let the businesses and the public decide what’s best for them, not the government........

Someone described Cuomo’s press briefing as a stream of consciousness. That’s a polite way of saying rambling.

Thank God and WV.

( coming out of resident “lurk mode” for a moment :)

I dare say the governor knows us a lttle better than the “talking heads” of “social media” ;) He shut down the schools a week ago and non-essential services are already shut down. ( FYI, Tractor supply and Southern States count as “essential services “ in rural areas, especially with Spring planting coming on :)

I’m quite proud of my friends and neighbors. I was out and about yesterday, and “shucks and golly gee”, we can figure out and use “best practices” , all on our own.;)

Prudence is one thing, hysteria is hardly warranted at this time.
