There are various types of clinical trials. Open label, or non blinded, means the patient is getting a known drug. Non randomized means no control group getting a placebo.
The results of either method would ordinarily be downplayed by the med community. They want double blinded studies with a control group. This is what Fauci is referring to when he says no proof. But we’re not talking about a new blood pressure med here.
Fauci seems to be ignoring the realities of the current situation. There is no time for a formal study, and are you going to give someone on a respirator a placebo?
Research will have to be done in real time based on promising “anecdotal” or ad hoc evidence. It will be physicians with balls and brains that solve this crisis and not bureaucrats like Fauci.
Doctors already know the mortality rate without the drug. Administer the drugs and see what the mortality rate is with the drug. Compare, and write conclusion.
