Fauci is a scientist and wants to run it through the scientific method of viability for proven success. When the situation becomes dire though why not take a guesstimated leap of faith and administer these drugs in the face of life threatening medical illness such as this covid-19 monster.

I think Fauci could have been read that way initially but he has moved past that position into being a denier of the body of work that has been published & reported. Effects of the antimalarials against other corona viruses was published in 2009. Many independent labs and hospitals have tried the therapy against COVID-19 with good results.
The pressure by Fauci to concentrate on untested new drugs suggests a motive to benefit Big Pharmy at the risk of serious side effects and the morbidity & mortality from not using a safer agent which is showing good results and long term has had small scale & manageable complications.
The kissy emails that have been unearthed between Fauci & Clinton call his judgement into question and suggest the possibility of an anti-Trump bias, unconscious or more overt.
He’s a scientist AND a BUREAUCRAT. Judging by his performance during the H1N1 (during the OBAMA administration), I believe he’s doing his best to DELAY this treatment.
