in crude terms it looks as though Italy is heading for a death rate of something like 100 per million. It could easily go higher than that.
That's incredibly high, and it points out systemic issues in Italy that they really need to look at - the inherent flaws of socialized medicine and rationing of health care for the elderly in particular.

Anyone got current numbers on plain old regular everyday run of the mill death rates? I’m pretty sure the U.S. is around 7,000+/-. (Not counting the 150,000,000 from guns!). Anyine? Buehler?

This graph states that there were 70 Million death in Italy on March 20. I know this is not true, what am we missing here?

At least it doesn’t have China’s trash data thrown in.

Yea this is hype when you look at the math in an honest way. For the US this would be like a Saturday afternoon at Beaver Stadium(Penn State) and out of the 100,000 them telling you 10 people will die. Hardly a pandemic as 99,990 will walk out of there alive. Sorry doomers, you’re just doomers.

Per capita is a pointless metric unless everyone has also been tested. In India, where testing has not been done much at all, the per capita rate is even lower than the US.
A more relevant metric is CFR (# deaths/#positive).

We went over this ‘per capita’ description a few days ago because it did not say anything but ‘deaths per capita’. At least now the chart puts ‘millions’ in parentheses below ‘per capita’. NOW correct that part of the chart completely, and remove ‘capita’!
‘Per capita’ means ONE person. One person is not a million.
