Back in Calvin Coolidge's day it was considered a disgrace for a politician to be too long in the same office. It was much like the military: move up or move out.

But that wasn't the law, that was the attitude.

I believe that whether or not we have term limits politicians and/or bureaucrats will find a way to abuse us. The problem is not term limits or no term limits, the problem is that the attitude has changed.

Our politicians and bureaucrats no longer consider themselves our servants, but instead consider themselves our betters.

No amount of legislation aimed at reigning them in will help if they don't have an attitude adjustment.

I firmly believe repealing the 17th Amendment with right the ship, and the parties would no longer have the power they do now. The power would not be all concentrated in Washington with all the associated lobbyists and bureaucrats
