It’s highly likely they were exposed. There are anecdotal reports that this thing can sometimes exceed the 14 days incubation.

The article says these people were quarantined after 21 passengers and few members tested positive. 300 passengers agreed to be tested, while 545 have refused. How many of the 300 who were tested behind the original 21 came back with positive tests?

I’ll bet this whole fiasco is going to take an interesting turn when it turns out that certain racial/ethnic groups are more susceptible to this viral infection than others. You’re going to have all kinds of public health protocols shut down as a result of civil rights lawsuits.

Sorry — that’s 21 passengers and CREW members.

Protecting public health is a legitimate government function. The article is not clear whether those who refused the test are willing to continue being quarantined. Test or quarantine. Where they are quarantined should be flexible. With home quarantine being permitted.

If you are going to insist that those people should all be tested, then why aren’t you calling for the military to go door-to-door and test EVERYONE in this country?

Have YOU been tested?

They are in their eighties. They have a home. You are letting people live on the streets in CA. An eight year old couple is just taking up resources. Let them go. Give the room to someone else. LA is filled with people spreading the virus all over everywhere. Its practically third world.

No. But then again I have not been exposed. They know they have been exposed. The incubation period may not be 14 days. I just love the way you and others are willing to play fast and loose with the health of others.

The outcome of a test doesn’t change anything. If the virus is going to kill me, does a test change that?

So if I get sick, you want me to go out, drive to the doctor, possibly infect other people as I wait an hour in the always-crowded waiting room, and then beg the doctor to order a test? And this is supposed to help me?

It’s obviously already spreading in the community. The genie is out of the bottle. We are all going to get exposed to it at some point. Testing is a bit pointless now.

I think it smacks a little bit of ingratitude for the US taxpayer to put them up all this time and then they refuse the final test.....

ROTFLMAO! Are you really that ignorant on the protocols if you get sick?

They have been on radio and TV continuously for weeks.

Protocol #1: Do not go to your doctor or hospital.

A lot of Freepers can’t wait get onboard cruise ships with the discounted pricing going on, so they say.

I’m not sure when the FR folks who bashed those of us saying this was serious will come here and apologize to us. Ten dead people an hour. 100. 1,000. ??

Get the feeling these folks will be on their deathbed screaming, “It’s only the flu!”

It's a shame the Sacramento County doesn't have a port, the passengers would have been long gone by now!

"Effective immediately, people in Sacramento County should not quarantine themselves if they've been exposed to the COVID-19. Instead, they should go into isolation only if they begin to show symptoms of the respiratory virus, the county's health department says."

I think most of the Italian bashers have their mind right now. Just a matter of time for the rest.

SO would I. Not into 5 inch penetrations into my body. Take that as you will.

I know that you don't intend this, but some people will interpret that to mean five inch penetrations through the skin with a needle.

The samples are collected with a swab, and skin is not penetrated.

For anyone interested, here is the procedure recommended by the CDC for specimen collection:

Could they fly home ? They don’t have to worry about the virus in the airplane. The virus is only on the ground

I am minimizing my contact with others ... for MY protection, not theirs. And yet at the same time I AM protecting them.

If everyone approached this the same way we wouldn’t have to lock anything down at all.

P.S. — you may have been exposed without even knowing it, right?

Still no test? No food.

Wrong country for that. Take it elsewhere.
