To adapt a phrase from Matt Margolis, Justin Trudeau is the worst Prime Minister in Canadian history. Like his American counterpart Barack Obama, he is both a know-nothing and a do-nothing leader, and an unmitigated disaster to the well-being of his country. For example, Trudeaus unconscionably late and incomplete response to the COVID-19 pandemic -- the 19 tells us it has been known for quite some time -- much like Obamas delayed response to the H1N1 pandemic of 2009, and his determination to keep an illegal border crossing open, are only the latest of his ill-gotten political escapades.
Indeed, like the Obama of 57 states and the Austrian language, Justin Trudeau is a full-blown ignoramus masking as an intellectual prodigy. Former National Post and Walrus editor Jonathan Kay, who acted as an editorial assistant for Trudeaus memoir Common Ground, swooned over his book-lined shelves. Trudeau probably reads more than any other politician I know, Kay fawned, even if his boyish, eager-to-please personality leads him to project publicly in a way that can seem intellectually unsophisticated. Trudeau is indeed intellectually unsophisticated -- not that there is anything wrong with that, but there is something wrong with pretending to know more than one does.

But but but...
He’s sooooooo DREAMY!
(and he makes the women all soft and creamy). :P
And, his socks. Don’t forget about his socks. LOL!
Obama the CONstitutional “charter of negative liberties scholar”? Didn’t he win the Nobel POS Prize too?
Most EVIL administration in the history of our republic.
Examples?
Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Loretta Lynch, Eric Holder, Lois Lerner, John Brennan, Jim Comey, Lisa Paige, Sally Yates, etc., etc...just to name a few. How can a republic survive such enemies from within? IT CANT.
Include the arrogant mindset of you didnt build that, charter of negative liberties, bitter clingers, deplorables...well, you get the message.
lNTERNATIONAL shakedown/extortion MOBSTER VEEP used OUR goodwill, great intentions, hardwork called foreign aide for his machinations and BRAGGED ABOUT IT at CFR. And he is running for President of these United States. Think of all our ancestors who worked hard, went to church, died for this republic.
Witness history. Witness current events. No justice, NO United States of America.
And eyebrows.
And the schmuck canucks reelected him!
That’s where the problem lies. He’s just a symptom of their stupidity, just like Obama was of ours.
The east coast (welfare provinces) and Ontario elected him. The rest of us are just along for the ride, unfortunately.
I did not think that Andrew Scheer could have beat him, and kind of like Mitt Romney, he could have likely been that very serious disappointment for us had he won. And like Obama, Trudeau will continue to do that more damage to the Liberal brand. He basically did more of that kind of damage to the Liberal brand in one term than his father did in about fifteen years as Prime Minister.
We know. And we feel bad.
There would have been no Obama administration if ONE of our elected or appointed had stood for the Constitution.
Obama is NOT a natural born citizen.
No one born with more than ONE nationality is.
It’s not all about Justin, in our system the voters are choosing a local member of parliament only, and the Liberal Party has governed Canada for most of the last century. I’m not a fan, but enough people are loyal to that party to make the task formidable for the opposition parties to unseat them. Because of the Cabinet format, voters can assess the kind of government they feel they are likely to get even with a leader they might not be that thrilled to see, reasoning that the party’s internal structure will keep the leader as little more than a mouthpiece. And that’s how the system works here.
Your president has a lot more power to enact legislation and shape the political agenda. Justin Trudeau has to do what his party tells him to do, or he would be out of office as the prime minister and reduced to a member of the Cabinet or even just a backbench MP. It has happened before with Liberal leaders, although they have been demoted at times when they were the leader of the opposition and not the prime minister.
Britain has the same system and you saw what happened to unpopular Theresa May who was forced out in favour of Boris Johnson.
As to Canada being some terrible example that the USA would want to avoid, that’s a rather weak proposition within Canada and personally I don’t find living here any different from living there would be, it’s six of one and half a dozen of the other as far as pros and cons of our (slightly) different social systems. The health care system here in ordinary times is not that problematic, for people of average income. The stories you hear about wealthy Canadians coming to the USA for treatment are a limited case, they can afford it. Can you? I can’t, so my choices would be the health care affordable under the two systems and frankly I think I would be no better off there than here. We could use a more optional system but it varies from one province to the next in terms of what is allowed under private medical offerings relative to public health systems. But as a relatively healthy person I don’t have many dealings with the health care system. It’s not free as sometimes presented, people pay either premiums or through direct taxation, but you are in the system and not forced to find a provider. For people of lower middle class income levels this is probably a better system than you have. For the wealthier, it is not but since our wealthy can use your system, I suppose nobody is really behind where they could be otherwise.
Attitudes toward gun control are sometimes offered as a difference, but in practice there is no real difference in the rights to bear arms in our country and yours. There is no such thing as concealed carry but I would imagine some people do it, as a legal proposition it is not testable because our laws are more slanted to gun use than gun ownership. If I carried a gun around with me and never used it, then who would know? And why would they care?
I would like to live in some parts of the USA and that’s more because of the scenery and the better weather than anything political. Being a pioneer of social distancing, the social aspects are irrelevant to me, I would choose to live in a small town or isolated setting somewhere in the west, preferably southern Utah or eastern Nevada perhaps. But I don’t have that choice, not likely to qualify for an immigration visa, so I get my fix by making a fairly lengthy visit once a year.
I think you would find that Canadian born people are as patriotic as Americans, and so are many immigrants to Canada, this is a lot better than what they left behind in most cases. I am not a big fan of Canada because of some blacklisting issues and a general disagreement with the political culture here, but from this distance I am sadly observing that Trump is an anomaly, the trend in America is towards a similar political culture and in some ways you seem even further into globalist viewpoints as a nation, obviously not so much around FR and the core of Trump’s support base, but I think he gained some votes last time from people who aren’t that similar to your views but couldn’t bring themselves to support HRC for one of two reasons, her personal incompetence, or her chilling personality. Whether Trump could beat a more likeable and less off-putting candidate remains to be seen although it that’s Biden, he has some pretty stark negatives too. Also he is getting a bit long in the tooth to start into that job.
Getting back to Justin Trudeau, sure there’s a demographic of low information voters who vote for his party because of his appeal (it’s not so much a sexual magnetism thing as with his father to female voters, more of a generational bonding thing, Justin on the surface seems like a cool guy, although if he were just that, it would be in and of itself a bad reason to vote for anybody, as seen with Obama). I think at this point, most voters up here are just waiting to see how this COVID business plays out, but two thirds of their attention is on their provincial governments which run health care and education in Canada. The feds role is mostly financial. Also they are waiting to see who the opposition Conservatives elect as leader and how that person performs in the next two years, a good performance could quite easily unseat this government. But to judge this government, voters will be quite aware of the Cabinet’s overall performance, they are not people hired by a president to execute his orders, but independent actors ultimately responsible to their party, the leader has to go along or face a rebellion behind closed doors.
JT is already seen to be halfway out of favour in his party. It appears to outsiders that he has a reduced role and that Chystia Freeland is actually the power within the Cabinet room and therefore de facto the prime minister. But JT is still acting the role. I won’t be too surprised if he retires from politics around two years from now and does not even run for his seat in parliament. His globalist patrons probably have some secure landing arranged for him. As such a lightweight it won’t be much, but his main employment before this was as a drama teacher. I think he’d be good at that.
Yes, ONE.
Trudeau is obama-lite.
Thanks for providing insight into Canadian politics. I worked in Canada 50 years ago (Windsor Raceway - harness track) I spent many a night drinking beer with Canadians at The Town Pump (10 cents a schuper...underneath the Ambassador/Gordie Howe bridge) with older Canadians and U of Windsor college students. About 30 years ago, when working in automotive, I called on my account many times Gates Rubber in Windsor. I’ve been to homes of many Canadians, eh?
The GST always bothered me. Thanks, again.
It’s not called GST anymore but HST. The GST was a strictly federal tax so depending on the rate you had that plus the provincial sales tax for the total retail sales tax. GST stood for goods and services tax. It taxed a lot of services which were not taxed by the province. Well that couldn’t stand so they came up with the Harmonized Sales Tax so the tax rate on services would be the same for goods. A lot of untaxed services at the provincial level were now taxed but at least it was at the same rate as goods now. You can just feel the harmony!
The highly Populated Provinces elected him not the outlying ones who detest him
This is one of the primary reasons why our founders created the Electoral College to prevent to over-rule of more highly populated areas denying equal representation to others
I wonder if we could go back to founding of our country where the Canadian Provinces if not the whole of Canada were offered to become part pf the United States in it’s formation
Could be in the Articles of Confederation or similar but it is there and already offered
Muy Interesante...
Thanks. It’s been quite some time since i’ve been in Canada...about 25 years. Baseball & basketball tournaments when my kids were in high school. Always great memories in Canada (Windsor/Toronto/Niagara Falls, etc.)
