CVS Health Corp said on Thursday it is opening a COVID-19 testing site for a limited population in the parking lot of a CVS Pharmacy in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.
Drive-thru coronavirus testing sites are popping up across the country, with the goal to ramp up testing and reduce pressure on emergency rooms and keep patients in cars to avoid spreading the infection.
CVS and other U.S. retailers such as Walmart Inc, Target Corp and Walgreens Boots Alliance pledged at a White House news conference last Friday to provide space for the drive-thru sites in their parking lots.

I wonder if there are plans to provide prophylactic hydroxychloroquine pills to a large number of Americans. Probably not, but if so, the drive-through tests would provide an opportunity for distribution.

My bank just announced they are no longer having their lobby open. All business must be conducted using the drive through. Think I’ll grab some cash while I still can.
And it’s the liberal white trash Yahoo calling it a China Virus. Guarantee you they change the headline soon.
Our county is opening one of these drive-thru centers around the corner from us. It popped up practically overnight. I’m not sure when it starts operation, but suspect it’s tomorrow. It’s for first responders and then seniors with symptoms. All by appointment only and with doctor’s orders. We took our last walk in that area today. We’ll avoid it once the center gets active.
Next up....bank run. I am in Finance and worked at WAMU. I saw lines stretching out the bank...

I presume you mean available without a prescription. I bet there is serious debate about that, out of worry that resistant strains of the virus will be selected by very widespread prophylactic use. Still, it might happen.
Why aren’t we using temperature guns like Singapore and Taiwan? May because they’re made in China?
I’m confused about this testing. If I even knew how to get a virus test done today and was found not to have the virus, how do I know I won’t get it tomorrow or any time in the future? Seems to me testing is a waste of time and needs to be done every day going forward. Can anyone see it otherwise?
The good thing about testing, is that it confirms the diagnosis, which can then authorize a course of treatment.
So if someone calls their doctor with likely symptoms, the doctor can direct them to a testing site, which could (possibly) issue the prescription and directions (like quarantining yourself) on the spot.
Most of the infected would never need to step foot in a doctor’s office or hospital, protecting the health care workers, and avoiding overloads. Transmission and mortality would be reduced. If the combo treatment is as effective as it now seems (3-6 day cure), then with this delivery method for testing and treatment, restrictions on gatherings could be lifted within weeks, rather than months.
And dramatically fewer people would die.
Testing is not for everybody, just for those with symptoms.
Maybe this is more in the way of a mockup than a serious production facility.See what you need in the real thing.
