That U.S. serious / critical number has barely changed this week. How do they define that?

Also, the number of recovered seems anomalously low compared to other countries with similar numbers of cases.

If, as claimed, most or many infected don’t have symptons, then the percentage of people who get critical or die is smaller than we’ve been warned

World-o-meter is behind

US has 14,250 cases currently - from the Johns Hopkins website.

For what it's worth.

Still waiting for the “unimaginable horror” of Covid-19. We’re giving up our liberty for this?

I’m more interested in how they define “mild”. Nearly all the cases fall into that category. The word ordinarily suggests something minimal. If that’s so, are we being scared out of our wits without justification?

Yeah. That number isn’t moving.

I hope it’s correct, but something definitely seems off.

Exponential growth.

Were the dead patients in the “mild” category before they expired?

Whatever. Let’s do the 15 day thing. Then go back to normal after April 1st.

There is a delay between identifying a case locally to reporting it nationally. Each local reports cases according to their own priorities. We are not going to have a 100% accurate picture of this until someone collates all the data and analyzes for their PhD thesis or book on it.

Jam-packed trains and planes, and offices with central HVAC would tend to do that.

The “serious cases #” on Worldometer has not been accurate/doesn’t move for days on end. Figure 4.4% of cases require hospitalization, so roughly 631 serious cases in the US at 14,340 cases...science on the 4.4% is here:

I hope this means I can just go get my usual groceries again, soon.

This “Fight the dead, fear the living” crap is getting old.

“Also, the number of recovered seems anomalously low compared to other countries with similar numbers of cases.”

It takes time to determine recovery.

Yup. It seems that it takes a couple of weeks longer to fully recover, than it takes to expire.

I wasn’t worried at all but...I know of 7 cases. There’s supposed to be less than 30 last I checked in our state. What’s the chance I know of 7? One of them is a women who’s 40 with a 105 fever...all the symptoms. They wouldn’t test her because she’s not in a high risk category. She was told how to treat herself and to isolate at home.

Younger Adults Comprise Big Portion of Coronavirus Hospitalizations in U.S.
The New York Times ^ | March 18, 2020 | Pam Belluck
https://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3825983/posts
"But of the 508 patients known to have been hospitalized, 38 percent were notably younger — between 20 and 54. And nearly half of the 121 patients who were admitted to intensive care units were adults under 65, the C.D.C. reported."

CDC analysis shows coronavirus poses serious risk for younger people
The Hill ^ | 03 18 2020 | Reid Wilson
https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/488325-cdc-data-show-coronavirus-poses-serious-risk-for-younger-people
"A new CDC analysis of more than 2,400 cases of COVID-19 that have occurred in the United States in the last month shows that between 1 in 7 and 1 in 5 people between the ages of 20 and 44 in the sample of those who are confirmed cases require hospitalization..."

Remarks by President Trump, Vice President Pence, and Members of the Coronavirus Task Force in Press Briefing whitehouse.gov ^ | March 18, 2020 | President Donald J Trump and others https://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3825895/posts
https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefings-statements/remarks-president-trump-vice-president-pence-members-coronavirus-task-force-press-briefing-5/

“DR. BIRX: Thank you. Thank you, Mr. President, Mr. Vice President. So, you know, we continue to look at data every single day. There are concerning reports coming out of France and Italy about some young people getting seriously ill, and very seriously ill in the ICUs.

We think part of this may be that people heeded the early data coming out of China and coming out of South Korea that the elderly or those with preexisting medical conditions were at particular risk. It may have been that the millennial generation, our largest generation, our future generation that will carry us through for the next multiple decades, there may be a disproportional number of infections among that group. And so even if it’s a rare occurrence, it may be seen more frequently in that group and be evident now.”
