As of this morning, Mexico has 118 cases, 25 new cases plus one fatality.
Must not have been anyone in his cabinet or ministers. That would get his attention.
“As of this morning, Mexico has 118 cases, 25 new cases plus one fatality.”
The problem with that statistic is that it reflects only cases confirmed by testing. I’d guess the real number at this point is between 10,000 and 1,000,000. Maybe more. Mexico has a lot of crowded, squalid conditions.
Look at the exponential growth of cases internationally. This is a highly contagious agent. I’ve traveled extensively in Mexico and my assessment is that Mexico will do nothing effective to contain the problem.
It seems Mexico *may* get very lucky and be saved by the treatment announced yesterday that seems so promising. We’ll see.
If not, we may see a wave of infected individuals coming from that direction, right after we’re winding down our economic massacre.
A whole lot depends on how many asymptomatic carriers are in the population. We need random testing of representative populations to get a handle on the problem.
This economic meltdown is probably insanity. I think this thing will make the rounds through the general population in the next couple of years, like it or not - if there’s no way to cure/prevent it. I hope this new treatment, very effective on 24 patients, is the answer. It’s even cheap, a well known malaria drug.
