Nowhere did I say people should save or investment the ballout money. Food, bills, medicine, essential household supplies. What’s so wrong about that?
Like most of the people in this rural area, I’m self employed-in construction, as a subcontractor-a gig worker-my customers are small, local one-or-two person contracting companies and work is already declining with customers-who are also small business owners-facing having to work at home or take the risk of the Chinese virus-you can bet your ass that no one around here is going to buy non-essentials with anyone’s money-most of us haven’t made enough to pay anything in taxes since Obama destroyed the economy-and it was just starting to get better the last couple of years.
Now, if this goes on for much longer, I won’t make enough to pay taxes next year again and neither will many of the guys I work with-we are also all over 65, so we have already made money for others for many years-now we want to make some for ourselves-it is why we are self employed. We all have some form of retirement-military pension, savings,, etc-I have military/VA surviving spouse benefits-but none of us have the kind of money to pay the bills and stay in business-none of us were CEO’s-just working class people-I suspect most of the people the pres wants to pay are just like me and my neighbors-working class small business people.
A thousand bucks isn’t a lot, but it will put groceries in the fridge for awhile until customers have money for projects again-and since I’ve been paying taxes since I was 16 years old, I’ll certainly thank pres Trump for that money and spend it on food and bills...
And property taxes, vehicle insurance etc.,
