Friend just drove from Florida to New York.......took a cooler of food etc. so they wouldn’t be stopping to eat. Truckers know how to improvise in all areas to ‘keep them roll’en”.
8,000 trucks cross the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit to and from Canada every single day. With the Canadian border closed down this is huge.........
Delivering goods?
POTUS said trade will NOT be affected.
Praying so.
We shall see.
Some retired truckers and others are also stepping up.
==
Great news.
Oh, i have no doubt.
Canada closed the border, not the US
As my family would road trip across America we would play a game spotting Swift Truckers and honk or wave to them it was a fun game for the kids they love truckers and when we had a Cb radio, we loved talking to the truckers.
There was a shortage of truck drivers not too long ago.
Lets see if that changes in the next six months.
There has been a shortage of drivers for a long time.
I drive the interstates and trailers have notices “we are hiring on the back”
Can't be said enough. Thank you. Yes, the US will probably get hit harder, but our systems are the best in the World. This NOT the apocalypse.
I have to ask if Hillary, Biden, Sanders would have shut down in-coming flights from China and now Europe. Pres. Trump is going down in history as the president who minimized America's exposure to this pandemic. Yes, all that is detrimental to free trade, but once this pandemic is over, America will be better off with so many more companies coming back and create even more jobs. Mark these words - CHINA WILL NO LONGER BE ON EVERY LABEL YOU READ.
Dang right!
Are they going to relax a bit on driving Hours Of Service for the better good? You can bet not...
POTUS tweeted that we BOTH have closed the US/Canadian border, mutually, but that trade would not be affected.
Quite true. If you bought it a truck brought it!
Amen. Our Walmart has now set max limits on many items we order on line and pick up in the store’s parking lot. That will help.
However,if it wasn’t for the truckers, they would have nothing on their shelves.
Where we park to pick up our orders and drive away is close to where the Walmart truck drivers park to unload or drive down to the unloading docks.
Last week while waiting for our order to be brought to our car, a Walmart truck pulled into the lot and parked about 100 yards in the lot and at the edge of the parking lot.He dropped his trailer and drove down to the loading docks.
A woman waiting next to us went ballistic about how those trucks should be in allowed in the parking lot.
My wife’s Dad was a trucker for most of his adult life. My wife who seldom replies to idiots, verbally nuked this woman.
The woman started crying and told her husband about my mean wife. He told his wife to shut up. She got back into their vehicle, and he apologized and said that his wife wasn’t handling this issue very well.
I wished him good luck as we got our order and left.
just sayin...
Eastbound and down. loaded up and truckin.
Of course it takea some time to replenish. As for the hoarders, think they've done their thing unless the US gets hit harder. Even then, the manufacturers, distributors, fullfillment centers, and transport folks will still re-supply. THIS IS NOT THE APOCALYPSE.
Just got a package from Amazon via FedEx yesterday on the front porch. Wonder who left that there? Our protocol is spray every single item we bring into the house with a fine mist of pure 91% rubbing alcohol. Use a rag to wipe it all over before opening, and then another spray if in a bag. If loose clothing, we spray that also and hang to dry. Then soak our hands with alcohol before we touch the entry knob or other handles.
Good for your wife and the other wife’s husband. Some people just need to STFU and be told so.
