Are we not being told the whole story?

We are, but a lot of people seem to be missing it.

This is a deadly virus, more deadly than the H1N1 pandemic of 1917-1919, the one they call the Spanish flu. The death rate is nearly 4%, as compared to the Spanish flu death rate of 2.5%. It is basically a cold virus, so is highly communicable. Last, no one is immune to it, meaning that everyone can get it. These facts together paint a very dire picture--12 million deaths in the US alone. This is why governments all over the world are taking extreme measures now to stop the virus before it starts spreading out of control.

The pandemic is not the only concern. There are not enough medical personnel to handle millions of people who have Covid-19 and need medical attention, causing a shortage of staff to handle other health issues. This means that death rates from other causes would also increase should the pandemic bloom out of control.

Where do you get 4%? The number I’ve seen is 1.4% And it’s probably much lower because so few people have been tested. It’s likely that many people have already had it without really knowing and gotten well. Tom Hanks didn’t croak despite being in a vulnerable category.

so far we have 200,000 cases worldwide . That does. it translate to millions of deaths in the US alone. Yes it is a serious situation but everyone needs to take a breath

There are many reasons why people are being led astray on this topic. But I would like this to be just numbers to make it easy.

As a basis for comparison, the risk of death from C19 is *vastly* less than the risk of death from driving your car home. There are about 38 thousand automotive deaths in all of 2019 as compared to 75 so far this year for C19.

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-updates/cases-in-us.html

https://www.nsc.org/road-safety/safety-topics/fatality-estimates

If that’s a month of deaths, and it is more time than that, then you can expect 900 deaths this year from C-19, without the vigilance. Hardly a comparison and vastly overblown.

We have a lot of things to worry about, to include staying healthy. But the sky is not falling and problems like C-19 will pass and will be forgotten within a couple of years. Remember Y2K. People are still embarrassed for buying up all the dog food.

It’s just the flu. Happens every year. That’s why they have token shots....free in many places. Everyone who is concerned finds it is no different now.
