Seattle will provide $800 each in vouchers to more than 6,000 families to help them buy food, cleaning supplies and other household goods at Safeway supermarkets during the coronavirus pandemic, Mayor Jenny Durkan said Monday.
Pending City Council approval this week, the funding will come from Seattle’s sugary beverage tax revenues, the Mayor’s Office said.
“We know that working families in Seattle are already struggling because of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Durkan said in a statement, referring to the illness caused by the virus. “As schools and child care facilities close, we need to do everything we can to support families and ensure they can put food on the table.”

Problem is when this is all over the law passed in the dead of night under hysteria will be in place forcing these businesses to continue this practice. Family of 4 if you only do actual food, not junk, $800 is about 1.5 months. If you have pets 1 month depending on sales, use of coupons. And how smart you shop. That is shopping lean. You can live without chips, dips candy, cookies, cakes, pies, soda, etc. Might discover how to COOK.
Government has tons of surplus food that could be handed out, they did it before food stamps, 20 QT dried milk, BUTTER, BEANS, RICE, FLOUR, SUGAR, SALT, cheese, peanut butter, canned fruits/veggies; breweries can produce water and can Saline solution. Gatorade is useless if you are running at both ends. Ramp up PETO PRODUCTION. UPS, USPS & AMAZON CAN DELIVER. HANG # ON MAILBOX IN HOUSEHOLD. Refill meds via phone, credit card, DRONE scheduled drops.
