While the US is still struggling to start mass testing, a company in Japan will release the quickest readily available coronavirus tests

So, when otherwise healthy people test positive (or false test positive), then what? Self-isolate, or stress out the medical system? Given human nature, I’m betting on the latter.
Too bad the US Gov’t is restricting historically typical US innovation tendencies.
I say we should let CVS/Walgreens/Walmart offer them.
You can download a test kit from InfoWars right now, whats the big deal?

They should be using these tests at the new Drive-thrus.
The corporatists and globalists and the U.S. politicians they bought sold America’s soul to China, Mexico, and on and on.
Never Forget!
Exactly right.
With a test that is 99.5% specific and 99% sensitive and you test 50 million people with symptoms of a cold you will have 250,000 false positives. That would pretty well overwhelm the medical system.
This was announced by the President after his meeting with the various company CEOs last Friday:
CVS Health to assist with COVID-19 testing
Friday, March 13, 2020
Given our physical presence in communities across the country and ability to reach millions of consumers with innovative, local solutions, were in a unique position to help address the COVID-19 pandemic. Were working with the administration and other partners to help facilitate COVID-19 testing with a common goal of increasing frequency and efficiency.
While details are still being worked out based on the number of tests available and geographic needs, its important for CVS Pharmacy customers to understand that they wont be impacted. We expect testing will take place in secure areas of parking lots at select stores not inside and individuals being tested will not have to leave their cars. We look forward to sharing more details as they become available.
More information on the steps weve already taken to address the COVID-19 pandemic including waiving charges for home delivery of prescription medications and making diagnostic testing and Aetna-covered telemedicine visits available with no co-pay is available at our frequently updated COVID-19 resource center.
I’d like to know more about the sensitivity and specificity of the test.
Can’t believe how messed up the CDC has been in this early on. Disgraceful.
Sounds like they are using the “old”, slow testing process.
Let a pharmacological Moore’s Law prevail.
Re: 7 - what’s the answer?
“Id like to know more about the sensitivity and specificity of the test.”
Add cost and speed of results to the inquiry.
Run a second test in a day or two.
This what happens when the few control the medical system. Conveniently, no more home MD visits.
The Big gov’t so hates private sector competition to them.
well, if they’re like the EUSSR quick flu tests, those kits may have about an 80% accuracy rate on a good day.
in other words worthless for screening. i wouldn’t trust those over a coin flip.
Cost seems to be about $23/test. Is a blood test though.
These tests require blood, which would make ‘drive thru’ testing impossible.
Plus it would require very close contact between patient and the person drawing blood.
Wish I could find more info.
