What about the Massachusetts Senate and House of Representatives? Can the Governor of Massachusetts shut them down with an executive order?
So, when do these various group size limitations start applying to air flight?
The CDC and the WHO has studiously avoided telling the people the race, the age and the specific underlying medical conditions of those who have become seriously ill or who have died from COVID-19. Instead this litany of listing just the numbers of people “infected” but not ill gives no real information to people but certainly increases anxiety and panic.
Panic prevents people from acting rationally and inhibits the proper allocation of resources. People then behave in a predictable manner. They isolate themselves, hoard and shun even their relatives.
Oh, brother ....
Big Brother !!!!
These officials keep upping the ante on each other
Originally he said it was a rumor
“Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker said he has no plans to institute a statewide shelter-in-place for two weeks, a rumor that has been percolating as the U.S. grapples with the coronavirus pandemic.
Baker said during an appearance on WCVBs On The Record that the notion he is planning on announcing a quarantine for 14 days is a rumor.”
But it is not a rumor anymore I guess he got the memo.
What’s the difference between large social gatherings and being at work where they are addicted to meetings in conference rooms with 25 or 50 people? Aren’t the people who have been running around stocking up on TP at Costco and such all weekend capable of carrying the virus into the workplace as well?
At the govt bureaucracy where I work, we’ve been preparing for days for possibly teleworking - jumping through the paperwork, the forms, the training certificates, the justifications, etc. Tomorrow we will all probably be in yet another meeting about it, crammed in a conference room, possibly sharing the virus. Ha! It’s Idiocracy for sure.
The order actually comes from the CDC which revised its figures down over the weekend to advise no groups larger than 25 for EIGHT weeks to try to stop the infection outright.
The orders specifically do NOT apply to factories or other critical industry.
Trump would do well to make a public statement saying as much and the reasons behind the restriction that the states are making rather than let all these dictatorial governors shoot off their mouths as if theyre saving the world on their own. Get the country on one page and it would greatly help his image too. But I suspect hes referring to Pence here who cant craft a message to save his life.
Our CEO was initially under the impression that this applied to the work place so I came back home. I’m going to WFH anyway just because I can and do at least two or three days every week anyway in a normal situaton.
I stopped at a grocery store (central MA outside of Worcester) on my way home as my wife asked me to pick some hot dogs because we were out. The paper goods, bread, eggs and frozen veggies were completely barren, not one to be had. They were just coming to restock the bread when I went by the aisle. They had plenty of drinking water.
For eggs we have chickens and a well for free great tasting water so we’re good there. I thought this announcement would make people panic buy even worse but it apparently hasn’t at least in my neck of the woods. I got a parking space right up front and there were plenty.
