Individual cars are very difficult for govt to control. And self-driving cars that could be submissive to govt are not progressing very quickly.
Thus the lust for herding us on mass transit.
self-driving cars would probably work well if they were the only vehicles allowed on the road but they don’t stand a chance on our public roads with our human drivers, at least not yet.
