Excellent idea. Because of an autoimmune disease, I’ve been “quarantined” for the better part of 30 years. Because of that, I seldom get colds and never the flu, and though I have a few things to last, I could probably hole up here for the duration of mania.
A solar battery would seem to be a good idea, so I’ll check that out.

Hell, it doesn’t take some government socialist plutocrat to tell anyone to self isolate. My wife and I are over 70 and we have been self isolating for 2 weeks and will continue for the duration. We are legion.
We have telephones, cell phones, TV, and the Internet. So we are well prepared and quite happy in our rural location.
Its interesting to see these grand pronouncements by plutocrats who assume we can’t figure these things out for ourselves.
If any government official approaches our door without a court order, they will be turned away over the tube of a very ready 12 gauge pump.
Over zealous socialist / commie apparatchik government officials are not welcome at all. They cause FAR MORE problems than they ever solve.
Isolation is deadly too. Stop thinking that we are like machines. We’re not.

Close. We’ve been discussing that it does look as though they’re going to let Coronavirus burn through the UK. If so, that means the elderly will be left on their own to either fight it or avoid it...they won’t get treatment during the burn-through. Many others also won’t get treatment with that approach, as no place in the world has near the treatment capability to handle a Coronavirus burn-through.
The UK approach looks to be almost a perfect repeat of Wuhan (basically ignore it out the outset and let it burn-through), but the devastation there was even too much for China to handle, so they wound up locking-down the city anyway. Don’t be surprised if the same happens in the UK.

Do you heat with NG or Propane? You can get a “Whole House” generator pretty reasonable that will run on NG or Propane and is cheap to run.

Almost stopped early into it because it was using point of view of the Global Warming nuts, but he interlaced it with a lot of data that debunks their claims and went other places too - the book is 16 years old and is almost prophetic as to what we are seeing right now.
I’m 68 and in good health, except that I’ve just gotten over a cold.
Our daughter has asked us to be prudent and avoid crowds. It’s not too difficult since we almost never eat out anyway.
The weather here this time of year is such that it’s hardly worth going out half the time. And when it is worth going out I’m riding my motorcycle. Not much chance of catching anything but happiness that way.
We’ve got a couple friends who play in a classic rock band. We went to the bar they played last night. We’re mid 50’s. The place was packed and we were pretty much the youngest ones there.
What if your spouse is in their 60’s and going in and out of the house?

Italy has hospitals overwhelmed at this point. Rumors that the elderly denied any aid at all because survival requires mechanical ventilation and they don’t have enough equipment to provide it to younger patients who have better chances.
No one is shaking hands now everyone is elbow bumping. I have a problem with this since people are told to sneeze into their arm chicken winging it. Elbows are pristine?

Why doesn’t everybody just take a breather and calm down and apply faith and common sense to the situation remembering that right now the seasonal flu virus is causing more problems than COVID-19.
Really feels like lovers of totalitarian government have gotten a booster shot of power and want to exercise more of their dictatorial powers.
