As the leader of the World Health Organization team that visited China, Dr. Bruce Aylward feels he has been to the mountaintop — and has seen what’s possible.
During a two-week visit in early February, Dr. Aylward saw how China rapidly suppressed the coronavirus outbreak that had engulfed Wuhan, and was threatening the rest of the country.
New cases in China have dropped to about 200 a day, from more than 3,000 in early February. The numbers may rise again as China’s economy begins to revive. But for now, far more new cases are appearing elsewhere in the world.
China’s counterattack can be replicated, Dr. Aylward said, but it will require speed, money, imagination and political courage.
For countries that act quickly, containment is still possible “because we don’t have a global pandemic — we have outbreaks occurring globally,” he added.
Dr. Aylward, who has 30 years experience in fighting polio, Ebola and other global health emergencies, detailed in an interview with The New York Times how he thinks the campaign against the virus should be run

You mean, how China delayed taking action for several weeks?
Denied overseas cooperation (especially from the US)?
Took lungs from prisoners for transplants?
And so on...
Are people killed by the authorities in actions related to the virus considered casualties of the virus? collateral damage? or just a day’s work in modern China?
“Political courage” means “martial law.”
That’s what it took for the Chinese to limit the spread of COVID-19.

This guy is a flaming Leftist. This is the guy who said just this past week that he would rather be in China getting treatment than anywhere else.
I suppose that is true if you end up needing new lungs because the Communist Chinese released a pathogen into the wild...much easier to get new lungs over in Red China, I hear.
Everyone should realize, remember, and repeat again and again... that the Democrats have already shot a hole in their own boat. Their politicization of the Corona Virus continues to ramp up, but they cannot unsay, and unvideo that massive hole in their boat’s hull. They were against and remain against travel bans. And they are trying to get legislation passed that would end the current travel bans. Add to that, Bernie and Biden still would dismantle our border, and allow hoards of untested illegal aliens to flood into our country.
Nothing they can say or do can remove the fact that if they had been in power, the Chinese Corona Virus infection and death rates in the U.S. would have exploded in February, and they now would be lying about how the Republicans are exaggerating the severity of the pandemic, which would be much, much worse than it actually is now. Martial law by definition would be rule via military. I think you can have what could be cited as some pretty extreme civil laws just through EOs and local declaration of civil law (think “straws”).
It’s the effort and logitics that would be involved that’s impossible as things are now e.g. to build a dozen new places to warehouse the sick in a few weeks time.

Talking to actual Chinese folks is your best bet.
This morning I chatted with a person who is from Wuhan and has family there. They said that the cases are way down and the virus is dissipating. There is a lot of China where the virus hasn’t even been seen.
We gave away our manufacturing to the filthy chicoms, but we didn't give away our building industry. A builder like President Trump could get it done, just with his personal contacts alone.
Now filling those places with beds, medical equipment (made in filthy chicomland) - yes, totally agree with you.
