With a 15 mile camera coverage (7.5 to each side), and a 24 mile radar coverage, 200 of these units could cover a lot of border, very quickly - theoretically up to 150% of the length of the border (3,000 miles), but in practice probably more like 1,000 miles. These units won't likely be needed where new Trump-style Wall System or Integrated Fixed Towers are installed, as they come with their own technology package. The mobile units can also monitor corridors of interest further back from the border itself, for defense in depth, and shift quickly with shifting smuggler tactics.

Layer upon layer of new technology is rolling out quickly along our Southern Border. Similar capability, already deployed in San Diego:

Mobile Surveillance Towers:

Varieties of unattended sensors:

Big plus, they can see into Mexico just as far and can detect potential violations as they begin to approach.

Some of the airborne sensors can see really deep into Mexico, for super early warning in remote rural areas.

Relocatable mobile surveillance towers that can be mounted on the backs of pickups are the latest high-tech innovation that Border Patrol agents are looking to help them patrol the Southwest border, agency officials said.

The Squad will immediately introduce bills to ban these claiming they are either racist, Islamaphobic, or both.

They can't. Such systems are within the authority of the DHS.

I doubt such legislation would make it through the House, much less the Senate. Reason: Border Patrol has been using such tech for sometime and the lawsuits get shut down by the USSC.

Granted, but it gives them another opportunity for free publicity. Even bad publicity is better than no publicity and the Squad is all about publicity.

Of course I have noticed. However, the USSC has supported the Executive Branch in many immigration cases. Think travel bans. Think asylum seekers being kept in Mexico. Think the Wall being built. Think using DOD funds for the Wall.

Unless veto proof legislation passes, Pres. Trump will continue to protect our borders through any legal means. He's doing an excellent job in keeping this promise.

They already have mobile towers mounted on trailers for agents, they also have camera and radar towers as well as unmanned aerial vehicles (predator & reaper drones) in the Tucson sector. Doesn’t do any good when there are no agents available to apprehend the border violators. This deployed high tech electronic fence doesn’t stop anyone from violating the border. Watch for a reduction in manpower as the new electronic border defenses are deployed.

Agreed. However, a wall never disappears. ES can augment.

If you go East out of El Paso on I-10 and just before the Hudspeth county line there’s a locked gate and a paved road. Most days you can see a BP truck with one of these pointed straight at downtown Proxedis Guerrero just across the river.

The New Wall is freeing up agents for apprehension at the same time it is massively reducing crossings in areas that it exists.
