Had to be methanol sold as normal hootch. Proper distilling wouldn’t cause these many deaths. Oh well not crying.

No tears shed here, either. I imagine it's status quo over there anyway, since there is no "normal alcohol" in Iran; it's all forbidden.
From Wikipedia: "Alcohol in Iran is prohibited for Iranian citizens by law since the establishment of Islamic Republic government in 1979."
"Alcohol poisoning is quite common because illegal alcohol is often sub-standard. There were 768 cases of hospitalisation due to methanol poisoning in eight provinces in Iran over the course of 4 weeks in late 2018. 96 of the patients died."
