The big problem is that HR 1 appears to omit any reform that would adversely effect the Democrat Party.

For accuracy, shouldn’t it be the “F The People” Act?

gibsonguy :" Another monstrous bill gets through the house. "
,p. The Devil is always in the details
I wonder if anyone has read it,.. probably not !
Just like ObunglerCare - passed it without reading the whole thing- just based on political party threats.
That's how the "Safe Act" got passed in New York.
Then,.. some Conservatives read it entirely, and the bill that got passed in the house called for ' Total Gun Confiscation',
with no remuneration for gun owners.
The bill got modified, quickly.
Legislature had to re-write it two weeks later, when they realized that there was no provision for police officers to be armed !
All this to be done to appease Cuomo and the leftards !

I am all for “independents” voting in primaries, if persons are registered as “independents” or “unaffiliated” and can vote, but only can vote, for an “independent” candidate. If they want to vote for a Dim or GOP candidate that opportunity will be available AFTER the registered Dims and
GOPers have selected THEIR candidates.

Primaries should not have open voting. Their purpose was never to have a preliminary “general election”. They came about to have a democratic process where registered members of a party could chose THEIR PARTY’S candidate, instead of that choice being made simply and directly by party leaders or activists hustling each other for votes at a “party caucus”. Voters crossing party lines is fine in any general election, but not, to me, in a primary.

I've posted a bigger, longer, more detailed blurb on here before, but here's the quick one:

I've said before that the government needs to get completely out of the primary process, except for possibly being voting locations (libraries, fire stations, etc). Each party needs to completely run their own process, closed. And if they're smart, they rework it to where the first State to vote is their most loyal State. Make a formula to rank the States based on CongressCritters, State Reps, Governors, etc to determine how 'Dem' or 'Repub' each State is. This'll let the parties actually pick their candidates, instead of middle-of-the-road Iowa kicking off the process.

And as a bonus, we'll finally start getting candidates willing to go against the idiocy of putting corn in your fuel tank!
