Awful looking, looks like they were infected much earlier than previously thought (e.g. fashion industry workers returning from Lunar New Year holiday in China?).

Another thought: if COVID-19 escaped from a Wuhan lab as a failed vaccine experiment, is it possible more than one experimental strain was released, and Italy got the nastier version?
