Dallas has been Austin-ized.
More like Chicago-ized, Detroit-ized or Baltimore-ized as over the last 30 years, Anyone with a good job who doesn’t like gunfire or their crap stolen has fled 20-50 miles away to the suburbs.
Austin is more of a white liberal drum circle, utopian vision of the world and not a “those are your laws, old, white, man” worldview Dallas currently has.
I got my battery stolen out of my car in Dallas. I ask the store manager “can I look at the surveillance footage” from the camera that was pointed right at my car.
“Oh, that camera isn’t real” the store manager said.
