I could see this scenario playing out. Biden stumbles and bumbles to the convention and there is Hillary, waiting in the wings to swoop in to the rescue. SURPRISE! And trust me, the convention will go wild for her. They will swoon. They will cry tears of joy. COMEBACK KID! will be on the cover of every paper the next day. Drudge and Mitt Romney will have a three-day orgasm - maybe even together.
The old hag won't even have to campaign. She'll get on the ticket and if Biden wins, he'll be out of office within six months by hook or by crook.
