Green New Deal advocate claims win over Hickenlooper in Colorado caucuses [YUGE upset of party favorite by far leftist]

Andrew Romanoff, a staunch progressive who has championed policies such as the Green New Deal, on Saturday claimed victory over former Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper in the state's Democratic Senate caucuses.

Romanoff made the declaration with reported results showing him earning 55 percent of the raw vote and Hickenlooper with just 31 percent, the Denver Post reported. The Colorado Democratic Party has said that 55 of the state's 64 counties have reported results.

The problem with caucuses vs primaries. Extremists are far over represented in the caucusing process. On the right, that typically means pro-life, pro 2A, small government, pro family types. On the left, it means absolute kooky socialist, anti-civilization, kill the white men, LGBTXYZ agenda freaks.

I think you are right that it was the Bernie Bros that overwhelmed the caucuses and picked this kook. Hopefully, that doesn't translate in November, though I think it will be Biden.

totally ... that was why colorado voted to nuke the presidential caucuses in favor of a state-wide primary ... many of us thought we were nuking ALL caucuses, but turned out it was just for the prez ...

Unfortunately, the Colorado caucus is irrelevant. A candidate needs 30% of a caucus vote to appear on the actual primary ballot, or a candidate can obtain signatures.

Either way, Hickenlooper will win the June primary in a landslide, so Gardner is going to have a tough time in November.

Everyone thought Ron Johnson was a goner in November 2016 and he was reelected to his senate seat by a decent margin, so you never know.

Republican Cory Gardner isn't all that good, but he's far better than any of the leftist democrats in Colorado by far. Gardner was at least smart enough to embrace Trump for his reelection strategy, instead of the usual losing strategy of establishment republicans of trying to win over democrat voters.
