Here’s what I don’t get. When I go to the store, there’s no bottled water or toilet paper on the shelves. But there’s still plenty of canned anchovies.

I have been to Walmart several times this week. no panic shopping at all. Only empty shelves were hand sanitizer and alcohol.

Plenty of toilet paper on the shelves, and second trip they had restocked the rubbing alcohol. Plenty of hand soap and dish soap, bleach, hydrogen peroxide.

Where is this hysteria they keep talking about?

The lady with the 3 cases of paper towels and only 2 cases of alcolhol (the Truly cans) clearly has this backwards.

Notice how most focus on the same items — bottled water and TP. That’s because of what they have heard reported.

If the MSM media reported people are making a run on toothpaste maybe they would be filling their carts with toothpaste. Dunno.

Stupid people. Do they think they can eat toilet paper and paper towels?

At the ground zero in Hubei province, divide actuall number of infections confirmed by population of Hubei province, and you get 0.1%. Something to keep in mind without freaking out.

So, I take it, that you believe the numbers the Communist Chinese have put out, both in terms of infections and deaths?

Mostly on the coasts I presume. Here in Florida things look normal.

Honestly, it really isn’t anything

So far more people died trying to testify against the Clintons then killed by Cronavirus in the United States.

Should we be concerned, yes. Is it end of the world, go hide in your bunker eating peanut butter sandwiches listening to your AM radio? no

I went to the supermarket this morning. Big Y in Newtown, CT.

It was a normal day there. Not very crowded. Shelves were jam-packed full. I was able to get everything I needed and was checked out rather quickly. No signs of panic buying whatsoever.

Also spent the week in Manhattan. Again, no signs of panic. I did see some people wearing surgical masks like the ones Michael Jackson used to wear. Also, in business meetings, we weren't shaking hands for the most part. Rode the Metro North all week. Normal. Everything normal for the most part.

[I wanted to defy the statistics, so took in a Carnival cruise last week, and after 8 days no symptoms. But heck I am younger than 80, and won’t be 80 for another few weeks LOL.]

Congrats on making it this far. You’re also braver than most. Was the cruise at capacity?

I don’t believe anything China tells us

They also are not working with us either on this. Not to the extent that they should.

This is there Chernobyl

Hopefully we will see the Chinese Communist Party fall apart in a few years....

If you have better data from Hubei, please post it here!
But seriously, the data from S. Korea is more reliable.

Just to prove how exaggerated this panic about covid-19 is, I booked a cruise on Carnival sailing on Feb 24th. Now 8 days after disembarking the ship, still no symptoms. But it can take as long as 14-21 days. Will keep you posted. By the way I will be 80 in less than 10 weeks.

Remember the Toilet paper shortage of the 1970s when someone popped a joke about shortages on Johnny Carson? It caused a run on the stores. I didn’t notice any shortage at all.

Then there was the sugar shortage, the beef shortage. gas shortage...

I don’t understand why that’s all they are getting either.

But I definitely understand that when it comes to Toilet Paper, it’s better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

And TP is something you will definitely use over time.

I’m counting on the water supply remaining okay. I bought two gallons of water, just in case something happens and no one wants to work.

Yes, it seemed full. Especially the buffets were always crowded. And the lounge where adult comedians were was standing room only. Funny I never saw a single person wearing mask on the Carnival Ecstasy ship, but saw a few wearing masks in port after disembarking at Jacksonville cruise terminal. Every other cruise I have taken always had that washy-washy girl spraying hand sanitizer on your hands, but no such person on this ship. All they had was a dispenser near the entrance to buffet but very few were using it.

Still low key here. Going to the gun show later today, and that will be a test.

Feeling here in Iowa is that this bug is here, in the wild, and running all over.

Went to Sam’s Warehouse the other day. Bought some general stuff (for an upcoming party). Also bought some canned veggies, a couple TP bundles, a bundle of paper towels and a couple of those cheap, store brand 35-count water bottle packages. I do admit I checked on hand sanitizer...none there. I did notice D batteries were sold out at the front door floor display, but the display on the other side of the store had plenty. Everything I bought fit in one buggy without overflowing. Store was not busy at all. No lines for the self-checkout.
