Pundits of all political stripes are taking note of the fact that the 2020 election is bringing to the fore just how deep and bitter are the cultural divisions within our nation. The glaring decline in political comity rivals that of the days leading up the Civil War. While the political divide is obvious and bitter, the growing religious divide is also increasingly obvious, and, perhaps, this development has been a stronger factor in the social and cultural divisions of the American public than has been previously acknowledged.
It has been little noted in the mainstream media, but the percentage of American adults who identify as non-Christian those individuals who are labeled "none" in terms of religious identification "continues to change at a rapid pace," according to the Pew Research Center after its telephone interviews in 2018 and 2019. Most recently, "65% of American adults describe themselves as Christians down 12 percentage points over the past decade." Fully "17 percent of Americans describe their religion as 'nothing in particular' up from 12% in 2009." In sum, non-Christian religious affiliations are growing as a share of the adult population. Not surprisingly, Americans also say "religion is losing influence in American life." Although most adults think private religious observance is a good thing, nearly two thirds think the church should stay out of political matters.
Though not made an issue by the legacy media, the decline in Christian and patriotic influence has been evident in the recent primary campaign events for the Democrat party. The televised Democrat debates showed no American flags. Social media, on the other hand, pointed out that, appallingly, the flags were intentionally removed to avoid offending anyone. Democrats and the various fact-checking sites responded to this criticism by pointing out that red, white,

One of my colleagues was in my office telling me his observations about the African American CNA’s at the rehab center his MIL was in ignoring the patients that weren’t African American. Like walking right by them. Like caring for the African American patients and letting the non-African Americans languish. So yeah, maybe.
A question only the Delusional Lying Leftist Haters of America would ask.
More a nation of idiots...SETI stopped gathering data because they became aware that if they discovered intelligent life out there, we’d be shown up for the morons we are...
Good one!
Here's the first definition of bigot from the American Heritage Dictionary: One who is strongly partial to one's own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ.
Personally, I never quite understood why the word bigot is negative. Certainly I am partial to my own group, beginning with my kin, extending to friends, church, neighbors and work acquaintances that I like. I feel comfortable with people of my race. I am definitely partial to people that have the same political views as I do.
Am I intolerant? Yes, there are certain things/people that clash with my values so much that I don't want anything to do with them. Is this so bad? No, I don't have anything to do with them and it keeps the peace.
We have a constitutional right of association. Built into the act of association is not associating with some - to exclude, to be intolerant. Negroes and Latinos do this all the time, but as a white man, I can't form a group that represents, say, White Men of America, without being attacked for it, face law suits, and having some liberal court say I have to include black and latino females. Are they intolerant? You bet. They want nothing to do with me. The difference is as a conservative, I don't seek to be a part of their group or to dismantle their group.
Just leave me the F alone.
I can say one thing for sure: I have never seen a party, such as the Rats, focus more on a candidates race, sex, orientation, skin color, or age in deciding who should run, win, or serve. Id say were at least half a country of bigots, and theyre all on the left. Pure intersectional and identity politics. Total a-holes.
I like what the actor Morgan Freeman once said “If you want to end racism stop talking about it”. So damn true, he should tell that to the left who focus on it every single second.
While in line at the recent Trump Rally in PHX, AZ, an entrepreneur was working the crowd line selling ink stamps and red ink blotters.
The design being as depicted- the word TRUMP in blocked letters with arrows on each bottom corner of the word pointing to the numbers 20.
I think it was $5 for the stamp and another $5 for the ink blotter.
Only to those weak minded and contrarian modern liberal (Tidepod eating, or uninformed socialist.)
At least the sum was less than $20...
Always have been and always will be. Everyone, regardless of age or sex or race or religion or political persuasion, has some level of prejudice or bigotry towards someone or something. That isn’t going to change.
There ya go.
Pretty much the definition of Personal Liberty wrt the various gov'ts.
Good point. Reasonably priced. $5 or $10...
Perhaps any other entrepreneur would seize on the numerical connection and charge a full $20.
Other entrepreneurs were certainly proud of their wares. $4 for a 16oz bottle of water. The weather bordered on being hot, and for the unprepared it was too tempting to resist.
Once the maintenance water spigots were found on the fairgrounds by intrepid Trump supporters, water sales went down.
Topic slide- full stop. ;0)
In the part of the world where I live the non-denominational churches are alive and well. The parking lots on Sundays are overflowing. , the early
The mainstream churches - Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran, Episcopal and Presbyterian - are struggling with attendance and financially.
Why?? IMO it is because the non-denominational churches are behaving like what churches are meant to be - according to Christ’s teaching. Instead of being the plumb-line for society, the mainline churches have incorporated the modern culture as their own. They have accepted the homosexual movement and all its deviancy; the morality of Hollywood, trying to promote these lifestyles as consistant with Christ-like behavior. Therefore members of these churches are leaving in droves. Those who remain behind as a voice of opposition are sidelined or silenced.
I’m a big fan of thread “bending”... It’s fun.
Having been a Boy Scout in the old daze, carrying some water, especially in a place like Ariz., is just common sense.
No need to depend on others in that case.
High Five! Bend it!
Be prepared. Indeed. I had 2 spare gallons of water in my truck cab, and parked where I could see my vehicle the entire time that I was in line. I regret not getting a camp chair from my truck, owing to the fact that I did not want to leave it somewhere outside the venue. Turns out that there were hundreds of them sitting exactly where there owners had left them, once they had gained entry to the event.
Quite the Civil Society.
Too bad the BSA slid around the bend into the uncivil society.
Often I wonder if we are a nation of self haters, a
nation of self doubters, a nation of confused wusses...
What other nation continually questions so much
about itself?
