Some of the reports (true/false?) coming out of Iran regarding prison conditions are nothing short of this side of hell. Looks like COVID-19 a pretext for Iran/China to eliminate dissidents. And no one knows for sure what is happening inside N. Korea. China has issued orders for its people to stay away from border with N. Korea as the NORKS have threatened to kill anyone approaching their border.
I would hazard to guess that the Islamic clergy are getting a big hit from this, for two reasons.
1) In Shiite Islam, they have a weird take on homosexuality, that only oral sex, not anal sex, is forbidden. Because of this, their “holy city” of Qom is rife with HIV and AIDS. New students who go there are “fresh meat”, and it is very hard to become a religious student without being sodomized and sodomizing others.
2) Qom is also on the major western route from Afghanistan for huge amounts of heroin, so spreading out from there, injected drug use is horrible. Which also spreads HIV and AIDS terribly.
Those with compromised immune systems are especially vulnerable to the worst effects of coronavirus.
So the bottom line is that Shiite clergy are going to be dropping like flies. And with 10% of Iran’s parliament known to be infected, their government is also going to be taking a huge hit.
I am reminded of the movie starring Omar Shariff in the 70s, “The Horseman” where he has an open wound in his leg and refuses medical treatment and wraps his wound with a page torn out of his Koran, saying Mohamed’s word was the best treatment.
He lost his leg.
