MSNBC’s Brian Williams, NY Times editor marvel at tweet that got Bloomberg math really wrong
Fox News ^ | March 05 2020 | Dom Calicchio

If someone had simply stopped and double-checked some math, they might have saved MSNBC’s Brian Williams and New York Times editorial board member Mara Gay some embarrassment Thursday night.

Instead, both Williams and Gay marveled on air in reaction to a Twitter user’s post about Mike Bloomberg’s campaign spending.

Trouble is, the post had gotten the math all wrong – yet neither Williams nor Gay seemed to notice.

They must be using that common core math.
The sad state of “journalism” these days.

Heck, I never gradiated 10th grade and I can cipher better than that.
They didn’t use enough oughts.

Wow. Williams is dumber than a box of rocks, ditto for the NYT gal. You just wonder how people this stupid can rise to the top of any field, let alone the pinnacle of the U.S. media. They also apparently have an incredibly exaggerated perspective on exactly how rich the uber-rich like Bloomberg are. It’s like, yes, he’s richer than Croesus, but he ain’t rich enough to give every American a million bucks. He ain’t some kind of multi-trillionaire.

They get those spots by being able to tell bald faced lies with authority.
Being at least somewhat telegenic helps.

I don’t think Croesus could dole out that kind of cash.
King Solomon maybe.

[ Idiocracy ]

Been a sad reality since the Democrats went for Manchurian Candidate Barack Hussein Obama. Yes, for real.

That's rather surprising.

After all, Brian Williams was there when Archimedes discovered Mathematics.

After watching this exchange...I’m of the mind that both were hitting booze early or had smoked a joint before the show went on the air.

Brian Williams didn’t care about fake facts, misstated quotes, figures, or photos during his career. Why should he start now?

The same for the New York Times. The “Old Gray Lady” has been senile for a long, long time and needs to be put into a home for formerly impressive newspapers, along with its hack writers and editors.

Brian Williams marveled at this...

What freaking idiots on MSNBC.

THEY are claiming that Bloomberg spent $500 million.

The US population is 327 million. They said, “ Bloomberg could give every US Citizen a million dollar check and have money left over.”

You mean 500 million divided by 327 million is not a million?

My 'new non-discrimination math' teacher told me it would be a million if I want it to be. It's wrong to say it is wrong. Everyone has the right to have their own answers and you can't say your answer is the only answer. You don't have the right to have your own answer.

It all depends on how the numbers self-identify.

$500 Mil/327 Mil Folks = $1.53

Unusual for even Democrats to be off by a factor of ten to the 6th.

Embarrassment? Surely you jest. These people are incapable of embarrassment. Because their audience is incapable of thought.

. .

Thursday on MSNBC's "The Eleventh Hour" with Brian Williams, New York Times Editorial Board Member Mara Gay and the host accepted without question a tweet that (jokingly) said that Michael Bloomberg could have given every American one million dollars with the five hundred million dollars he spent on his short-lived presidential campaign.

In reality, $500 million divided by 327 million Americans is about $1.53 per person. https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2020/03/06/msnbcs_brian_williams_new_york_times_editorial_board_member_mara_gay_five_divided_by_three_equals_one_m

If someone had simply stopped and double-checked some math

The word "math" above should be replaced with "grade-school arithmetic". Williams and his guest are clearly idiots.
