My problem with this is the hidden costs to business.
I have a highly skilled employee of childbearing years. It is bad enough now, should she get pregnant, that we will have to find another similarly skilled employee. Such a search would be expensive. Finding someone of that skill set willing to take on a temporary position would be virtually impossible.
Getting pregnant is a choice. We know what causes it these days and have ways of preventing it. If you choose to become pregnant, you need to understand that it is at the peril of your job. Don’t get me started on giving the same benefits to the daddy and REALLY don’t get me started on giving the benefit to a co-habitating but not married baby-daddy.
I have forgotten.
Just WHY are we subsidizing these little bastards anyway?
