I wonder if the sale can be delayed. That would be, in legal terms, an Art Van Delay.

Levin Furniture division in Pittsburgh is staying in business because a member of the Levin family is buying that piece back from Art Van.

When I lived in Michigan I think an ad for Art Van ran on TV or Radio every five minutes. They were as ubiquitous as Bloomberg’s ads.

That store has been “going out of business” since I was a kid.
Their commercials were obnoxious.

So what’s the deal? Competition from Costco or Walmart?
Did they sell good quality furniture, but couldn’t compete on price with today’s cheap particle board furniture?
To: Larry Lucido
Should have gotten into latex.

Arthur Van Elslander and family were/are huge contributors to St. John Hospital and the Van Elslander Cancer Center on Mack & Moross.

The worst was Joshua Door (âyou’ve got an uncle in the furniture business, Joshua Door, Joshua Door).

The few times I've shopped at my local Art Van, I found their furniture to be of good quality but very high priced. I'm not surprised that they're going out of business.
They were just down the street from Highland Appliance, Fretter Appliance, and ABC WhoreWarehouse.
ABC is the last one standing.
But Highland had the best commercials.

Van Delay only does latex.
To: Larry Lucido
Online mattresses probably hurt that part of the business.
To: Larry Lucido
For many furniture stores, the going out of business forever sale has become an annual event.
