Authorities searching the California home of a UPS worker who threatened a mass shooting found body armor, tactical rifles and 20,000 rounds of ammunition, police said Monday.
Thomas Andrews, 32, was arrested on suspicion of evading police, driving under the influence and several weapons violations, police in Sunnyvale said in a statement.
Authorities said they received a report Sunday night that Andrews was planning a mass shooting at the UPS facility in the city of Sunnyvale, near San Jose.
When officers tried to stop him three hours later, shortly after 11 p.m. PT, a pursuit on one of the states main thoroughfares, Highway 101, followed.
After officers stopped Andrews, they searched his Sunnyvale apartment and found thousands of rounds of ammunition, high capacity magazines, five tactical rifles, a shotgun, three handguns, body armor and tactical backpacks with ammunition.

How could they tell? Did he go around saying he was going to shoot up the UPS facility? Did he post his plans on line? (like a map with "shoot boss here X") Or was it a disgruntled ex-wife/girlfriend who knew he had guns and ammo and caused him grief for spite? Be mildly interesting to find out.
The CA cops would suffer mass heart attacks with a raid on one of my homes if a paltry 20000 rounds is considered bad..
My personal view is that the minimum reserves are based on 10,000 rounds per long gun,... Except for an AR-50, if you have one...
Fortunately, when I built my reserves, 49-to-59 dollars was all it cost per case of 1000... By the time FreeRepublic marched on Washington, my reserves were complete...
Now that I am at the upper middle-aged level (86) lots of the equipment and it’s associated reserves have been given to children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren...
I thought the MG armed Tacomas (as well as occupants) were referred to as Technicals. Don’t remember where I saw that, though. Take that with a grain of salt, of course.
It’s black. Or camo. Or black camo.
It is not the 20,000 rounds or the multiple “tactical” rifles one needs worry about. It is the one rifle in the bandit’s hands and the first 30 to 50 rounds he has on his person.
The Vegas shooter did that. Spent weeks building up a stockpile. To your point, he had no intention of getting away.
Thanks, df. All is well here, too.
‘They’ can produce more from their stable of ‘patients’.
Looking a little psycho...
Not sure, but I suppose it could be related to this tactical diaper bag, with MOLLE webbing and quick access, but concealed, baby wipe pocket.

WTF is a tactical backpack?
It's black or has a camo pattern.
