I'm convinced it is and why we need to get type 2 under control. This is a strictly dietary phenomena. The increase in astrocytes to compensate for glucose in the lactate pathway is a very damning indicator of insulin intolerance in glial cells.
This form of dementia is very insidious and takes decades to develop. I am both optimistic and pessimistic it can be reversed depending on degree of brain plasticity.

I think the emphasis on low fat diets and salt restriction may also contribute to dementia since brain, nerves, and hormones are largely composed of cholesterol, a fat.
