Those guys represented the we-stand-for-nothing GOP establishment, the country club uniparty wing. They are even of less use today than they had been in the past.

The Morning Consult poll implies that around 90% of Buttegieg and Klobuchar voters switched to Biden in a span of a day or two, and none at all to Sanders. Warren and Bloomberg also gained a bit. Is that believable?

Neither Data for Progress nor Morning Consult’s methodology has proven reliable in the past. FiveThirtyEight rates them B/C, compared with A+ for the best. But they’re data points.

The biggest charge I get out of 2016 is, in the beginning, the media was actually pushing and promoting Trump because they thought his blunt manner of speaking would turn off the moderates and set their heroine Hillary up for a cakewalk.

It was too late before they discovered that we deplorables (unlike their base) actually appreciate the unvarnished truth.

The GOP would have suffered a dumpster-fire disaster in 2016 if it made a bunch of backroom deals to clear the way for establishment favorite Jeb Bush to win the nomination.

True, but the uniparty would have gotten what it wanted. Bush-Clinton-Clinton-Bush-Bush-Obama-Obama would have been followed by a Bush-Clinton match up. If either one had won, the same cartel would have been in charge.

In one way, I don't think the Republicans understood how toxic the Bush name had become.

Talk about clueless. After 2006, anyone with the last name “Bush” would have lost to Osama bin Laden in a U.S. presidential election.
