No miracles are guaranteed , nor COULD they be guaranteed. That would be religious charlatanry. People pray for the wil of God to be done --- hopefully a healing -- but everyone is strengthened, whether spiritually or physically.
Nothing about a holy object prevents it from becoming contaminated. You could catch a disease from kissing your Bible, your cross or your mom.
