Which is why people need to elect a pro-2nd amendment constitutional sheriff in their counties. That way, when leftists in the city send out their gestapo cops, they are met by the sheriff and his armed SWAT team.

Unspoken costs: When common laws have no meaning for ANY group of people be it illegals or squatters or druggies, things will always get worse. It can't get better. Why call the cops? They'll just tell the squatter with their pants around the ankles dangling the family jewels at the schoolyard to move along. It invites anarchy to solve the problem since the cops won't do it.
There is no net benefit for what we're doing. Contamination everywhere, public parks now their front yard, forget about things like enjoying a nearby river without being attacked by uncontrolled dogs that protect their camps from being burned by other squatters. That fishing spot you enjoyed as a kid? Be careful you don't step on the used needles..
Charity has to come from individuals. Laws need to be enforced by common consent of the people. This isn't a big government solution, what we have now is the big government solution - just enough bandaids to keep the people from rebelling. And when people have finally had enough, a token cleanout of one of the squatter nests.
Either we incorporate them back into our society and our laws or we continue the doomed experiment where we blow hundreds of millions building nice places for them to stay and trash immediately. What are you going to do to them? EVICT THEM? Make them squatters again?

Adverse possession. Usually requires 20-25 years of use without the property owner telling the squatter to leave. If the owner tells them to leave, the 25 year clock resets to zero...counting starts all over again. But, also depends on the state. That 25 years might be 15 minutes in California.

All they have to do is play polka (or bagpipe) music very loudly, the same song over and over. Problem solved.
Maybe the cops and their chain of command should have to host some of their own squatters before trying this crap.
We get a peek ad the eventual Dem Utopia if they have their way...the homeowners would have their property confiscated to be given to the squatters and then be forced to pay rent to squat on what used to be their property while the squatters destroyed their home.
Or flame throwers.
If my husband were alive (he died in 2011) and this happened to us, well we had four dogs and two of them were not friendly and like to bite; the dogs would have fun although I would be concerned that they would contract some nasty disease or something.
If the dogs didn’’t work out, he and some his vet buddies would rig up a homemade flame thrower which would take care of the problem rather quickly.
