It goes for all types of services. Food, trucking, fire, police, etc.
1) You might have been exposed and are under quarantine. (A dozen firefighters in Seattle area now). Numerous health care workers.
2) You are afraid of getting it, so don’t show up to work. (Not mandatory of course, but our church services this morning - Seattle area - were down about 25%).
3) Schools closed for a week to clean it. Or for a month. And folks can’t afford child care and stay home with their kids.
4) If it gets real bad and the hospitals are turning sick people away, people will be staying home to take care of their loved ones.
5) Or city-wide, regional quarantines.
6) Or of course, the worker is sick.
Do people ask if you are sick? ...just curious because my sis wears a mask because she had oral surgery...she’s vain :) People ask her all the time if she is contagious.
So far no. I see people all the time in Wal-Mart with them on, even kids.
Yes, California’s homeless population is a huge petri dish and may well bite them.
If You have a well
You need electricity
For the Pump.
Not if one was smart enough to install a hand pump inline with the electric pump...
There are closed 5 gal plastic containers... then get a small wagon and you’re good to go. Sounds like a wonderful place to live.
It’s an amazing place. Mountains and lakes all over, great winter skiing, fairly mild winters. Plus it is a very conservatively governed state and doesn’t buy into the liberal crap to the west of us. People like it that way and fight hard to keep it that way; but the Dems are making an effort to capture Idaho.
I used to have an earthquake emergency barrel in California. It was about 55 gallons - a big polyethylene drum. Used to dose it with Clorox to keep the water clean and safe. Did that for about a decade and got tired of it, so got rid of the barrel. Might be worth having one of those these days.
I need to clarify my last reply to you. My town has shut down schools due to the flu. I am seeing parents putting masks on their kids in Wal-Mart, doctor’s offices, and other places where there might be sick people. That’s a good thing IMO.
My doctor advises me to wear one if I’m in a crowd of sick people due to my asthma and age (65). My husband just had major surgery so if he’s in public he wears one since it’s flu season. During the winter I have a dry cough caused by my asthma. People feel better around me when I cough if I wear the mask, even if I’m not sick.
We keep a supply for flu season but I didn’t buy extra because of the Coronavirus. The VP in the news conference said “average healthy adults” don’t need to wear one. Not everybody is an average healthy adult. They are not 100% effective but they can’t hurt anything if they give you ANY protection from people coughing and sneezing in your face.
Most of the time I don’t wear one. If I go to town I go early before the crowds get out. I don’t care how they look either.
