TUCSON, Ariz. -- Border Patrol agents in southern Arizona have uncovered another illegal tunnel running under the U.S.-Mexico border, the latest in a series of discoveries and the result of renewed efforts targeting underground smuggling routes.
The tunnel, according to Customs and Border Protection, ran about 30 feet into Nogales, Arizona. No arrests were immediately made in connection with the tunnel, a CBP official confirmed to ABC News.
Its the third time since December that agents have thwarted a suspected underground smuggling route in the area, according to Border Patrol.
Similar tunnels used for drug trafficking have recently been found across the southern U.S. border as part of regularly coordinating investigations with Mexican authorities.
Tensions between the U.S. and Mexico have been heightened over the past year as Trump administration officials push for further cooperation to secure the southern border, including petitioning for more resources into the border wall.

The fence uys them the time to make these discoveries.
Any finger prints in the tunnel match data base?
Once the WALL is up, there won't be any more "TENSIONS".
Read a while ago one near San Diego was 30 ft underground.
Sic the EPA on them for threatening the natural habitat of itchy ivy and snail darters.
Yes it does and they can mount surveillance capabilities on the fence to see if anyone is trying to mess with it or tunnel in. Going too far away from it to tunnel in is both time consuming and dangerous.
Nogales is full of tunnels, the city straddles the border.
Water lines, sewer lines lace the border
Wait until the tunnel is occupied. Pump in poison gas. Rinse. Repeat.
When the criminals wise up and start wearing protective gear, flood the tunnel. Rinse, repeat.
When they start carrying scuba gear, use explosives. No need to rinse or repeat.
Occasional random explosives testing above suspected tunnel locations will give them pause, too.
+100!! LOL!
They've been building drug-mule submarines and are probably working on robots for the tunnels. Motion detectors as triggers would be advantageous, but the gas won't harm the robots.
If there was a way to infiltrate the source and poison the supply, a bunch of dead druggies in the U.S. would likely reduce demand considerably.
but the gas won’t harm the robots.
Claymores then?

Have to love a sound strategic plan...
