I am wondering how long the virus can last on surfaces. The reason I Am asking is Amazon. A huge amount of inventory come here in the form of JIT(Just in Time) Inventory. I see the trucks everywhere and not knowing where the items come from and who is handling them makes me wonder how this can spread.
A large number of ships are being held offshore. Delays in deliveries have already started impacting various areas.
My understanding is that the virus can last several days on certain surfaces....longer than most, but nothing alarming.
spray the heck out of the package with lysol- don’t know if that’ll help or not- if you’re nervous about it- wear gloves to open package carefully outside- get rid of box quickly- wipe down plastic covered item inside with bleach towelette or something- Wear a mask while opening packages too- keep hands away from eyes, nose and mouth while handling the boxes too-
over doing it? perhaps, but IF this virus erupts- then precautions like this will need to be taking place-
I was wondering about my Amazon China stuff too.
I read COVID-19 can remain on the surface for about nine days.
Stuff from China takes longer than that to ship.
Have wondered the same thing about all our “made in China” products .....Chinese hands and chinese people who are coughing and sneezing will have touched those items, that wrap, those boxes ... and only a few weeks ago.
Thought about that, too as I was ordering dehydrated foods on Amazon. I will leave it up to God.
I’m worried about Amazon too. Someone said the 1918 pandemic was partially spread by US Mail...
I got a small package from Amazon that was running late and when I opened it I got that feeling of of wanting to touch my face. So I sprayed the area with disinfectant... Let’s hope whoever packed it had a cat - because I’m allergic to cats and they have a similar effect...
