The pretense of Bloomberg is that only he, and not just any competent mayor in 2002 and beyond, could have led the city of New York while the people and businesses of New York recovered from the impacts of 9/11. The biggest pretense of Bloomberg is that he had anything much at all to do with the rebuilding efforts, which were led by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PA)
(owner of the site on which stood the twin towers, and holders of the 99 year leases on the buildings the PA had only months earlier sold to a private interest)
and a New York State economic development agency.
And, the recovery of the job situation (with many of the hundreds of World Trade Center occupants needing to find new locations for their companies) was led by the New York City business community, not the mayor.
And, MOST of Bloomberg’s policing policies and other “good government” policies were just following policies established by Gulliani.
Bloomberg is a pretentious fraud.
HAT TIP Paul Sperry
THIS JUST IN: In an astounding lack of self awareness, at a CNN town hall, Bloomberg actually boasted
that he makes an effort to shake bellhops’ hands in NYC so that they can go home and tell their families
they know someone “important.”
I guess Bloomberg also gives them cake crumbs to snack on, too.
Bloomberg means that after the towers came down, he was able to sell the affected financial firms many new replacement terminals - leading them out of their difficulties and into a glorious future. :)
Besides, one of those handshakes was with a kid named Charles Foster Kane. "Don't take away my sled, Grampa Mini-Mike!"
Funny story. But here’s the thing... of all democrats running Bloomberg’s easily the most qualified. Which - if you look at the field - isn’t saying much.
Similar to Uncle Joe in his world. The two might possibly share a room in a home for the aged one day, both fighting to claim the lower bunk.
Ha, I saw the trailer of the movie never seen!
Bloomie has succeeded beyond anyone’s wild imagination — $60 billion in net worth. Amazing.
He’s a business tycoon. Not flamboyant. Even “Big Gulp” and “Stop and Frisk” is over-rated criticisms.
He’s very shrewd, which makes me think he has other motives than to be President. I think he wants to keep the Democrat party reasonably sane and moderately corrupt. After all, he’s the richest oligarch in the Fake News business.
Bernie and Warren frighten he and the rest of Wall Street. So he’s on the mission to take them down.
